Leonard Furda

The violinist Leonard Furda is a member of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and was born in 1986 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

At the age of 7, he began playing the violin at a music school in his hometown and later completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies at the University/Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca under the guidance of Prof. Victoria Nicolae.
He then moved to Vienna in 2010 to perfect his technical and musical skills at the Music and Art Private University. During his studies, Leonard Furda won first prize in six national violin competitions in Romania and third prize at the international “Stefan Ruha” competition in Satu-Mare, Romania.
His great passion has always been the stage, where he has had the opportunity to perform numerous of his favorite works, such as Brahms’ Violin Concerto or the virtuosic masterpieces Zigeunerweisen and Carmen Fantasie by Sarasate, accompanied by Romanian symphony orchestras in venues such as the Atheneum in Bucharest or the Carl Gasteig in Munich.

Since 2004, he has performed in numerous duo recitals in Germany and Italy, where he appeared with his good friends and pianists, Csiky Boldizsár and Leonhard Westermayr.
