Transform Arte, Art Fair Eisenstadt

Daniela Popp

It all began in 2010 with painting.
I spent six semesters at the private art school of Hubert Brandstätter in Weitz to learn about the visual arts in all their facets. It was there that I met Mag. Otakar Sliva, a ceramic artist, as my first teacher.
While I was still pursuing my painting education, I was increasingly drawn to clay.
From 2012, I started participating in exhibitions and arts and crafts markets.
From 2019 to 2021, I attended the “Master Class for Ceramic Design” at Ortweinschule in Graz, which I successfully completed with distinction.

I myself place less emphasis on perfectionism in form, but rather on the design of surfaces. Small irregularities, mistakes, the “imperfect” are not corrected. Texture, colors, and shapes play a significant role. They tell stories, speak for themselves.

I am inspired by nature and my surroundings. Leaves, flowers, stones, mountains… can be found in my ceramics. I am delighted when some ambiguity is perceived in my ceramics. When the objects stimulate dialogue for the viewer, when their own personal interpretation develops, and when things are perceived and judged from a different perspective.

“Every perception takes place in our minds; perceptions consist of a interplay of expectations, knowledge, and the ability to interpret things.”
